The Similarities Between Tea and Wine Tasting - Teaflection Blog The Tea Lounge
www.teaflection.com via @TeaFlection &bull YesterdayThough tea and wine have substantial differences as beverages, there are striking similarities between the tasting processes used to evaluate their flavor profiles. In sharpening my own tea tasting process, I found that many of the terms and techniques between the two overlap, which was surprising at first because they are made in completely different ways from different sources and processes.… Full Story »

Southern Oregon Wine Blog: Seattle's Sustainable Sommelier impressed with Umpqua Valley wines and green efforts
www.southernoregonwineblog.com via @SouthernORWine &bull Sep 1, 2010A recent trip to Southern Oregon brought me to visit quite a few of the plentiful wineries exploding in the Umpqua River Valley. I tasted quite a few great wines, but wanted to pass on three wineries to our readers who are really doing things the right way. Not only making great wine, but practicing sustainable farming and taking great care of the earth that supplies them with their grapes. Definitely worth a trip to visit. Or pick up a bottle from your favorite wine retailer, or ask them to procure one for you if they don't yet carry it.… Full Story »

What We Drank (August 30, 2010)
LENNDEVOURS &bull Aug 31, 2010
I picked it up on sale at our local store when oppressive summer heat staged an encore. It turned out to be an excellent match for our food and the weather. I tend to think wine and weather is overly discussed, but I'm fully on board with rose in summer. And for all of the wonderful rose made in NY state these days, it's nice to have that reference… Full Story »

2005 Linne Calodo Problem Child (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) - CellarTracker!
www.cellartracker.com via @MyWineBuyer &bull Aug 29, 2010Tasted by Anonymous on 8/29/2010 rated 91 points: Every time that I think that the LC wines are over the top, fizzy fruit bombs, I need to remember it's all about patience and time in bottle. The fruit in this wine was vibrant and alive. Black cherry, plum and blackberry burst in the mouth. Not an explosion, more of a symphony. The wine had a lighter mouthfeel than expected but still delivered. No major heat, ample but… Full Story »

Wine tasting tips, the 2nd of a 5 part series - Long Beach wine
www.examiner.com via @NAVIGATOR53 &bull Aug 28, 2010The Nose, ah yes, the nose. When it comes to wine tasting, using all senses allows us to get a greater enjoyment from the wine. In our last article, we focused on the "sight" portion of the taste. Here will move to the "nose", using our olfactory senses to bring more of the wine to our sensory awareness. Wines have an aroma, maybe an odor, definitely a… Full Story »

Dard & Ribo (Rhone)
Wine Terroirs &bull Aug 26, 2010
Jean-Rene Dard in the vatroomMercurol, northern Rhone Mercurol is a village sitting near the A7 toll highway, north of Valence and east of Tournon and Tain-L'Hermitage. Happily, we met Jean-Rene Dard shortly after leaving the toll highway and we followed his all-terrain, vineyard-proof vehicule (picture on left) right to the winery. The winery looked unchanged compared to what we vaguely remembered of our 2004 visit (I had shot very few pictures then) : a nondescript building with little-appealing surroundings softened by the sunny atmosphere of the Rhone valley (pic on right). As we parked our vehicules, we saw Mr Hirotake… Full Story »
